Advocacy Alert: Call Senators Today for Urgent Budget Amendment

We need advocacy efforts today!

Please consider sending our email template below to a few Ohio Senators to share that Ohio families with loved ones with autism are experiencing challenges accessing insurance funded therapies. Families experience denials for age caps, visit caps, lack of providers and sit on long waitlists due to lack of autism care providers in our communities. Our state budget amendment requests do not fiscally impact the state budget. Please email today asking for their support of the Ohio Autism Insurance Coalition and Senator Romanchuk’s amendments in House Bill 96. Feel free to share our email contact information at Help@ASDOHIO.com.  Again, so many Ohio families appreciate your advocacy!

Share the following:

My name is xxxxxx and I live in xxxxxxxx. I am the parent of a wonderful young xxxxx named xxxx. xxxx is xxx years old and has autism. Autistic children, adolescents, and young adults are struggling to access behavioral health care in Ohio. The strained and inadequate commercial and public insurance provider networks are unable to meet the demands for service.

The Ohio Autism Insurance Coalition is working with Senator Romanchuk to fix access challenges to therapies without any fiscal impact to the state. This will improve access to insurance-funded behavioral services such as applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy, which is the most prescribed therapy for treating autism spectrum disorder.

Please support our simple fixes that will expand access to therapies without impacting the state budget fiscally. Senator Romanchuk is working with the Legislative Service Commission to add our proposed changes to the Amended Substitute House Bill 96.

Thank you for this opportunity. Again, we request your help in considering our budget amendments to stabilize ABA therapy for all families in Ohio, including my family member.
